Collection: Solita Designs- A Story of Artistic Expression


   

Leah Solita Mangum is a multi-media artist from the blue ridge mountains of western North Carolina. As a third generation potter, she has worked with clay since childhood with her parents and grandparents of Mangum Pottery. All ceramic items are made in her family studio located in Weaverville just outside of Asheville. She received a BFA in Fine Art focusing in painting from Appalachian State University. Leah also creates jewelry with gemstones, brass, leather, clay and other organic elements. She has recently developed a love for herbal remedies and the craft of herbal products.

"The name Solita was my great-great-aunts first name. It means Little Sun in Zapoteca from Oaxaca, Mexico. This part of my ancestry made it into my name, and I have honored this spirit in all of my creations. I channel a little sun into each piece I make."
